Tennis Bears Conclude Fall Slate at ITA Regional

October 15, 2022

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Missouri State's women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of its 2022-23 schedule on Saturday at the ITA Central Regional here.

The Bears entered four singles players and two doubles teams into the event and had the opportunity to play against some of the top programs in the Midwest.

"We wrapped up our fall at the ITAs, and while we didn't get the results we wanted, we moved closer to our individual goals and recognized some areas of improvement leading into the spring," said first-year head coach Ellie Burger. "I'm excited to spend these next few months working with the girls and getting prepared for January."

Singles entry Diana Cabrera captured Missouri State's only win of the weekend with a straight set (6-3, 6-2) victory over Nore Heinitz of North Dakota in the main draw round of 128.

The spring semester will see MSU begin its dual schedule that will be finalized at a later date and include three new Missouri Valley Conference opponents in UIC, Murray State and Belmont.
