Box Score OMAHA, NEB. – Missouri State women's tennis earned six wins on the final day of the Omaha Duals here Saturday.
 
After facing Creighton and Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa in doubles action and Omaha in singles action on Friday, MSU looked to build off yesterday's start.
 
To begin the day, MoState battled Omaha in doubles, taking two-out-of-three matches versus the Mavericks. Diana Cabrera and Alyson Piskulic defeated Jessica Aragon/Zoe Adkins, 6-3, giving them a perfect 3-0 mark over both days of the duals. Juliette Robinson and Sandra Lukacova were awarded the match versus Keegan VanPelt/Summer Shannon due to the Omaha doubles pair having to retire because of an injury. The score was 5-4 in favor of the Mavericks when play stopped.
 
After finishing up doubles play, MSU squared off against UNI in singles action, grabbing three wins. Lukacova defeated Lorena Cardoso, 7-5, 6-4, and Piskulic won versus Thaissa Moreira, 6-4, 6-3. Both players picked up their second victories of the day and fourth of the duals versus UNI. Silva Avakian earned her second win of the duals, cruising to a straight-set victory versus Lasya Mylavarapu, 6-3, 6-1.
 
MSU concluded the Omaha Duals with singles action against Creighton. The Bears struggled to find their footing against the Blue Jays, with Lukacova taking the sole victory for MSU, a thrilling match that went the distance against Malvika Shukla, 7-5, 6-3, 10-6. Lukacova finished the duals with a record of 5-1.
 
Out of seven matches against each school, MSU defeated UNI 4-3, fell to Omaha 4-3 and lost to Creighton 6-1.
 
On the day, Bears players went 6-9. Across both days of the duals, Bears players went 11-16.
 
MoState is back in action next week for the MVC Individual Championships at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Oct. 7-9.

Friday Recap
Missouri State women's tennis racked up five victories on the first day of the Omaha Duals here Friday afternoon.
 
Competing against Northern Iowa, Omaha and Creighton over a two-day span, this was MSU's final tennis event before next week's Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.
 
"We had a strong day of tennis," head coach Ellie Burger said. "We competed very hard and battled in every match. We're looking to build on today's efforts and get some more wins tomorrow."
 
The duals were in a combined format, as MoState faced Creighton and UNI in doubles and Omaha in singles on the first day.
 
The Bears began the afternoon with three doubles matches against Creighton. The team of Diana Cabrera and Alyson Piskulic secured the first win for MSU of the day, defeating Ana Paula Martinez and Valerie Negin in a tight match, 6-4.
 
Next, the Bears battled UNI in doubles action. Piskulic and Cabrera earned another win, defeating Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso with a thrilling 7-6 (7-5) finish. Juliette Robinson and Sandra Lukacova also earned their first wins of the dual against UNI, defeating Andrijana Brkic and Issa Sullivan, 6-3.
 
To close out the day, MoState faced host Omaha in singles action. Two Bears defeated Mavericks. Sandra Lukacova picked up her second win of the day, topping Keegan VanPelt in a closely contended three set affair, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Silva Avakian also earned her first victory of the dual, defeating Addison Miller, 6-2, 6-3.
 
In total, Bears players went 5-7 on the day.
