Bears Blank Louisiana Tech for Third Straight Home Win

SPRINGFIELD – Freshman Jenna Anderson's game-winning goal in the 66th minute was the difference-maker as Missouri State defeated Louisiana Tech, 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Allison South Stadium.

"It was a team effort," head coach Rob Brewer stated. "Louisiana Tech is a solid team. The goal from Jenna is something we have wanted to see from our corner kick attack. When you play 90 minutes and don't get scored on then you are doing something right."

Anderson got Missouri State (3-2-1) on the board when she headed in a corner from Grace O'Keefe for her first collegiate goal. With her assist, O'Keefe has now tallied a goal or assist in five of the Bears' six matches this season.

"It feels good to get my first collegiate goal," Anderson reflected. "It really helped pick up the movement within our team and get our momentum going. Overall, we played really well. We moved the ball and our defensive lines played compact making sure we were not getting split."

With the win, Missouri State is 3-0 at home for the first time since 2014 when the Bears recorded wins over Creighton, Drury and Utah State to open the season.

Offense was at a premium throughout the match as neither team broke double digits in shots with Missouri State holding an 8-6 advantage overall and 3-1 in shots on goal.

The Lady Techsters (2-2-1) lone shot on goal came in the 69th minute when defender Josie Studer sent a shot toward the Missouri State goal with Katherine Montgomery making the save. Montgomery picked up her second clean sheet of the year while the Lady Techsters Sydnee Korchak made two saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of action.

Eighteen Bears saw action throughout the match, highlighted Isabel Burke, and Montgomery who both played the full 90 minutes.

The win now brings the Bears' all-time home record to 135-69-22 (.645).

Missouri State is back in action when the Bears travel to Saint Louis to face the Billikens on Thursday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT). The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
