Missouri Valley Academic Accolades Announced for 2020-21

ST. LOUIS – A group of over 150 Missouri State University student-athletes are among an elite crop of Missouri Valley Conference competitors announced Thursday to the 2020-21 MVC Honor Roll.
 
Conference-wide, 110 student-athletes earned the league's highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award, including 12 from Missouri State:
 
Allee Armitage (women's swimming & diving), Jasmine Crawford (women's track & field),  Michael Creek (men's soccer),  Jordan Eickelman (women's soccer), Abby Hipp (women's basketball), Claire Martin (women's tennis), Shelby Palmer (women's track & field), Tarah Phongsavath (women's soccer), Elle Ruffridge (women's basketball), Emma Skornia (women's soccer), Carolyn Stock (softball), and Lily van Biljon (women's swimming & diving).
 
The President's Council Academic Excellence Award which requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through the spring 2021 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.
 
Likewise, 63 Bears earned the prestigious Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award. There were a total of 894 student-athletes in the MVC who earned this honor which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.

The Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll was also announced with 165 Missouri State student-athletes earning accolades for classroom excellence. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (fall 2018 and spring 2019), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor. Approximately 2,000 student-athletes across the Missouri Valley Conference achieved this distinction.

The Missouri Valley Conference honors do not include the sports of football, men's swimming & diving, or beach volleyball.
