SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (3-6-2, 1-3-1 MVC) will travel to Valparaiso, Ind. to take on Valparaiso Saturday at noon.

- MSU is 3-6-2 on the 2020-21 season.
- Last time out Bears picked up its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season as Sierra Fury's 52nd minute goal lifted the Bears to a 1-0 victory over Drake. The goal was Fury's first of her collegiate career and the Bears' eighth this season.
- Two-time MVC goalkeeper of the year Kaitlin Maxwell picked up her first clean sheet of the season while making two saves. It was Maxwell's second appearance since Oct. 22, 2020. Her 237 career saves rank fourth all-time as well as her 10 career shutouts and 4,579 minutes in goal.
- The Bears are tied for third nationally in penalty kicks with two.
- MSU ranks third in The Valley in corner kicks per game with 40 through nine contests.
- MSU ranks 48th in shot accuracy putting 53.9 percent of its shot attempts on goal.
- MSU has played four overtime games this year and are 0-2-2 when going into extra time.
- Senior Emma Skornia has not missed a single match in her MSU career, appearing in all 68 contests while totaling six points on two assists and two goals.
- The MSU goalkeepers have combined to rank 29th nationally in saves per game with 6.20 per contest.
- Freshman Goalkeeper Katherine Montgomery played an integral role in the Bears 0-0 double-overtime tie with Loyola (Feb. 28) as she recorded eight saves in eight opportunities. The performance was her first career shutout. As a result of her efforts Montgomery was named MVC player of the week on March 2.
- Montgomery currently ranks fourth in the MVC in saves per game at 4.83.
- Sierra Fury, Abby Couch, Kate Schroeder, Maggie Augustine, Dragana Andonovski, Ingrid Perkins, Kennady Orlick, and Isabel Burke, all lead the team in goals at one apiece.
- The Bears were the only team in the Missouri Valley Conference to play matches this fall.
- Due to injuries, the Bears have started three different goalies this season while all four goalies have seen action.
- Of MSU's 28 players, 16 are freshmen or sophomores, making them one of the youngest teams in The Valley.
- Missouri State is in its 25th season of women's soccer with a 218-199-56 (.520) all-time record. Rob Brewer is the only head coach in the program's history and has guided the Bears to two NCAA Tournament appearances (2000, 2017).
- Valpo is 2-3-4 on the season and 1-2-3 in MVC play.
- Last time out they were defeated by Northern Iowa 1-0 back on March 28.
- Kelsie James leads the offensive attack for Valparaiso with five points on the season off two goals and one assist.
- Goalkeeper Nikki Coryell has been solid this season collecting 35 saves while allowing six goals in 890 minutes of play.
- Valpo is led by coach John Marovich, who is in his 13th season at the helm and has an overall record of 100-98-35. He is 1-1-1 when facing Missouri State.
- Missouri State leads the all-time series, 4-1-1, including an unbeaten record when playing on the road.
- In the last matchup MSU won 2-1 back on Sept. 28, 2019.
- This will be the fourth meeting between the teams since Valpo joined The Valley.
- Following Saturday's match at Valpo, the Bears host Southern Illinois for the regular season finale on April 7. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3 or ESPN+.
