Box Score SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's tennis team won its second consecutive match this week as they defeated Kansas City 4-3 on the Roo's home courts Saturday afternoon.
 
"I am very proud of the girls for coming back from two down and winning 4-3," head coach Hannah Keeling said. "We definitely overcame some obstacles. Getting the doubles point was huge and we are really looking forward to continuing our momentum into next week."
 
Like Thursday's match, MSU got a 1-0 lead early as they secured the doubles point, thanks to wins by Hana Sisirak and Alyson Piskulic in the No. 2 spot (7-5) and Mary Houston and Mara Presot in the No. 3 match (6-3).
 
In singles play at the No. 1 spot Hana Sisirak was defeated by the Roos' Yana Grechkina 7-6 and 6-3. Ellie Burger won a hard-fought battle in No. 2 singles defeating KC's Riddhi Sharma in three sets by the scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Kansas City's Thanushree Vale defeated Mary Houston in No. 3 play 6-3 and 6-4. Tiffani Nash won in the No. 4 spot 6-1 and 6-3 while Alyson Piskulic fell in No. 5 singles by the scores of 2-6 and 4-6. In the decisive No. 6 singles, Claire Martin won a three-set thriller over KC's Eva Kresovic 6-7, 6-4 and 6-3, to give Missouri State the win.
 
This week's back-to-back wins were the first time the Bears have won back-to-back matches since April of 2019.
 
The Bears (3-6) will be back in action, March 12-13, when they play a pair of matches against Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech in Jonesboro, Ark.
