Bear Pair Named Valley Golfers of the Week
March 04, 2021 | Women's Golf
A pair of Missouri State women's golfers have been cited by the Missouri Valley Conference for their play at the Kiawah Island Classic earlier this week.
Sophomore Faith Belmear and freshman Johanna Wollenhaupt were named league Golfers of the Week after tying for 28th of 210 players this past Sunday thru Tuesday (Feb. 28-Mar. 2). The Bear duo each posted their career-best rounds of one-under-par 71 in Monday's second round at the Oak Point Course at Kiawah Island Resort in pacing MSU to a 10th-pace finish in the 41-team field.
Belmear carded 76-71-78--225 and Wollenhaupt 75-71-79--225, with the first and third rounds being played at the Cougar Point Course. Wollenhaupt has won the Valley's weekly honor both times she's played this spring, winning last month with her play at the SMU/Trinity Forest Invitational. It's the first conference honor of her career for Belmear.
The Bears are back in action again Mar. 15-16, hosting the MSU Spring Invitational at Highland Springs Country Club.
