Tennis Bears Set for In-State Foes

March 02, 2021

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's tennis will be back in action this week as they host Saint Louis on Thursday before traveling to Kansas City for a match against the Roos on Saturday.

"We always have good matches with Saint Louis and we are excited to host them on Thursday," head coach Hannah Keeling said. "We have had a good week at practice and are looking forward to continuing our positive momentum into this week's matches.

The first match will occur on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. against Saint Louis (1-0). The Bilikens have only had one match this season as they defeated Northern Iowa 7-0 back on Nov. 26. Saint Louis leads the all-time series 5-4.

Following the match against Saint Louis, the Bears have a quick turnaround as they travel to Kansas City (0-3) to face the Roos at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Last year MSU defeated Kansas City 6-1.

The Bears (1-6) are coming off a pair of losses to Central Arkansas and Oklahoma their last time out. Claire Martin recorded an impressive win in the No. 6 singles spot last weekend as she defeated Oklahoma State's Lora Boggs 6-0 and 6-1. Hana Sisirak and Alyson Piskulic also were victorious in No. 3 doubles where they beat the Central Arkansas duo of Jaeun Lee and Maja Gledic 7-5.

After this week's matches, the Bears will be back in action March 12-13, when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark for matches against Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech.
