Final Results
SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's tennis hosted a two-day MoState Invitational tournament, picking up eight singles and two doubles wins overall at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The tournament was comprised of a flighted draw with players from Southeast Missouri State, Kansas City, Lindenwood and Missouri State across three groups with singles and doubles play.
On day one, freshmen duo Leni Eichner and Matilde Ercoli picked up a 6-0 victory over the LU duo of Michelle Trochez and Sofia Dunisijevic.
Sophomore and captain Lucy Latham prevailed in a three-set battle against SEMO's Maja Bajorek, 7-5, 3-6, 10-6.
Eichner picked up another victory in the singles, beating SEMO's Yontha Tadoum, 6-3, 6-1.
On day two, Latham and senior and co-captain Billur Gonlusen overcame KC's Alise Reznik and Michela Xibilia.
Latham picked up yet another singles win against LU's Fabiana Labrador, 6-2, 6-3.
Gonlusen prevailed against LU's Michelle Trochez, 6-4, 6-4.
Ercoli beat LU's Paola Garcia 6-2, 6-1.
Senior Lola Federski claimed victory against KC's Adella Castaner, in a thrilling 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 scoreline.
Gonlusen picked up another singles win, in a marathon three setter against KC's Luciana Braga, 7-5, 5-7, 10-8.
Ercoli rounded out the Bears' victories for the tournament, beating KC's Alise Reznik, 6-1, 6-3.
The Bears will travel to Norman, Okla. next, to compete at the ITA Regionals starting on October 16 at 8:00 a.m.
