Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas – The Missouri State women's tennis team was dominant in its win over UT Dallas, shutting out the Comets 9-0 here on Friday afternoon.
"We started off our spring break trip in solid fashion today," head coach
Hannah Keeling said. "We came out and played well from the start winning all three doubles matches. I am really proud of how we approached our singles matches as well."
Since the Bears were playing at UT Dallas they competed under NCAA Division III rules as each doubles match was worth a point compared to the usual single doubles point.
Missouri State swept doubles play as the duos of
Ellie Burger and
Claire Martin (No. 1),
Hana Sisirak and
Alyson Piskulic (No. 2) and
Mary Houston and
Mara Presot (No. 3), all won their respective matches, 8-3.
In No. 1 singles,
Tiffani Nash swept UT Dallas' Kathy Joseph by the scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
Mary Houston was victorious in the No. 2 spot defeating the Comets' Sam Wong 7-6, 7-5.
Taylor Shaw continued the victory parade with a sweep in the No. 3 spot of Suzuka Wishino (6-1, 6-1). In the No. 4 match
Alyson Piskulic continued her stellar play defeating Rebecca Jackson of UT Dallas, 6-0, 6-2.
Claire Martin defeated UT Dallas' Stephanie Joseph, 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot before the Bears finished the shutout in No. 6 singles as
Mara Presot defeated Svaska Iyengar 6-3, 6-2.
The Bears (5-7) will be back in action on Saturday as they face North Texas at 10 a.m.
