
Brewer’s Bears Take on MSSU Friday

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (1-5-2, 0-2-1 MVC) will play Missouri Southern State (1-1) on Friday at 5 pm. The game will serve as a replacement for the Evansville contest that was canceled due to Covid-19 protocols.
Match Details
- Friday's match will kick off at 5 p.m.
- The match will be played at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Mo.
- The match will not be televised.
- Live Stats will be available.
Attendance
- Due to Covid-19, MSU is allowing 30% capacity at all home games. All home matches will be free admission this season.

- MSU is 1-5-2 on the 2020-21 season.
- Last time out, the Bears dropped a 1-0 defensive battle at Northern Iowa. The Panthers outshot the Bears by a 16-3 margin.

- Montgomery played an integral role in the Bears 0-0 double-overtime tie with Loyola (Feb. 28) as she recorded eight saves in eight opportunities. The performance was her first career shutout. As a result of her efforts Montgomery was named MVC player of the week on March 2.
- Montgomery currently ranks 53rd nationally and second in the MVC in saves per game at 5.40.
- Dragana Andonovski, Ingrid Perkins, Kennady Orlick, and Isabel Burke, all lead the team in goals at one apiece.
- The Bears were the only team in the Missouri Valley Conference to play matches this fall.
- Due to injuries, the Bears have started three different goalies this season while all four goalies have seen action.
- Of MSU's 28 players, 16 are freshmen or sophomores, making them one of the youngest teams in The Valley.
- In the recent MVC Preseason Poll, the Bears garnered the No. 3 spot with 63 points while receiving one first-place vote
- Three Bears garnered All-MVC Preseason honors as Kaitlyn Maxwell, Durnin and Isabel Burke landed on the first team. Durnin earned All-MVC first-team honors and tied for third on the team in goals (3) in 2019.
- Missouri State is in its 25th season of women's soccer with a 217-198-56 (.520) all-time record. Rob Brewer is the only head coach in the program's history and has guided the Bears to two NCAA Tournament appearances (2000, 2017).

- Missouri Southern is 1-1 officially on the season.
- The Lions have had three exhibitions against Division I opponents Missouri State and Kansas where they went 0-2-1.
- MSSU is coming off a 2-0 loss at Washburn back on March 14.

- Missouri State leads the all-time series, 1-0-1.
- This is the third meeting between the two teams this season. MSU won the first match back on Oct. 30 2-0. The last contest on Nov. 1 ended in a 1-1 draw.
