Tennis Bears Show Grit in Win over Louisiana Tech

Box Score JONESBORO, Ark. – The Missouri State women's tennis team earned a nail-biting 4-3 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon.
 
"The whole team showed grit and determination throughout today's match against a good team," head coach Hannah Keeling said. "After losing the doubles point, we dug deep and gave everything we had to come out winning four singles matches in order to get the win. I am proud of how we competed today."
 
Louisiana Tech secured the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and 3 spots to grab the 1-0 lead early.
 
In No. 1 singles, Louisiana Tech's Leonie Schuknecht defeated Hana Sisirak 7-6 and 7-5. Ellie Burger continued her winning ways as she swept LTU's Illana Tetruashvili in the No. 2 match (6-1, 7-6). Tiffani Nash won her second match of the weekend in the No. 3 spot defeating Louisiana Tech's Anastasiia Salenko in three frames (1-6, 6-0, 6-3), while the Bears' Mary Houston fell in the No. 4 spot to Alexia Romero (3-6, 6-4, 3-6). 
 
Claire Martin defeated Tech's Claudia Oravcova 6-0 and 6-2 in the No. 6 spot to tie things up, before the Bears clinched the win in the decisive No. 5 singles as Alyson Piskulic defeated Madalena Amil 6-1 and 7-5.
  
The Bears (4-7) will be back in action March 19-20, when they travel to Texas for a pair of matches against UT Dallas and North Texas.
