ST. LOUIS – Missouri State senior sprinter Madison Meredith was tabbed Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Meredith continued to pad an incredible start to her debut season with her performance at the Gorilla Classic this past weekend.  For the second straight meet, she won both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash.  She clocked a 7.44 in the 60m to tie for the program's third-fastest indoor time and marked a personal record in the 200m with her time of 24.22. 
 
The Birmingham, Mich., product sits atop the conference performance list in both sprint categories, cushioning herself from the next fastest times by at least 0.17 seconds.  Additionally, her marks rank 44th (60m) and 78th (200m) nationally.
 
In her first season with the Bears after transferring from Western Michigan, Meredith has won all four events she has competed in, sweeping both sprint races at the Washburn Open (Jan. 30) to begin her senior campaign.
 
Meredith and the Bears will look to punctuate an impressive indoor season at the MVC Championship on Feb. 26-28 held inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Missouri State finished third in the team standings at last year's Valley meet.
