KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kyle Hiebert has been named a semifinalist for the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced Tuesday.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor that a Division I soccer player can receive, and it has been awarded every year since 1967. The 15 men's semifinalists were selected through voting by NCAA Division I men's soccer coaches.
This is Hiebert's second-straight year as one of the 15 prestigious semifinalists. He earned the honor this season after anchoring a strong backline that helped boost the Bears to their third-straight Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title and second-straight tournament championship.
The senior defender started 18 games this season, appearing in all 19 and clocking a team-high 1,625 minutes. In his career at Missouri State, the La Salle, Manitoba, Canada, native made 86 total starts while appearing in every game. His presence in the backfield helped MSU to a .573 goals-against average and 10 total shutouts (.526) in 2021. He also added three goals this year for his single season high.
Three men's finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 7, 2022, to formally announce this year's winner.
