Storylines for the Weekend
1) Missouri State (14-8, 5-5 Missouri Valley Conference) embarks on a stretch of three matches in four days this weekend, beginning with a 6 p.m. Friday contest against Bradley at Hammons Student Center. The Bears also host Illinois State at 6:30 p.m. Saturday before visiting Indiana State for a 5 p.m. Central match on Monday.

2) Outside hitter Amelia Flynn became the seventh member of Missouri State's 1,000-kill/1,000-dig club on Oct. 1 when she logged her 1,000th career dig at Illinois State. She ranks ninth at MSU with 1,301 kills and 20th with 1,066 digs.

3) Middle blockers Azyah Green and Maddy Bushnell have been a force at the net this season. Green's 1.16 blocking average is on pace for the best at Missouri State since 2009, while Bushnell ranks second in the MVC with a .339 hitting percentage that would rank sixth in school history (and first among freshmen) should she reach the required 200 total kills to qualify for the record book. Bushnell enters the weekend with 144 kills on the season.

4) In addition to Bushnell, MSU's two other freshmen are contributing in a big way this season. Morgan Sprague's 11.10 assists per set rank atop the standings for Valley matches and her 10.40 overall average is second for the full season. Her 842 total assists rank 17th nationally and fifth among freshmen. Kate Owen ranks fifth in conference contests with 4.26 digs per set.

5) Missouri State is 6-1 at Hammons Student Center this season, 15-3 under Coach McRoberts, and has won 77 percent of all-time matches in its 46th season at the facility, including a winning record in 22 straight years.

6) Missouri State is 13-0 this season when winning the first set, with 19 consecutive victories in that scenario dating to February 2021.

7) The Bears are 4-0 in five-set matches this season and 10-4 under Coach McRoberts when going the distance.

8) Missouri State has posted an overall winning record, both overall and in MVC play, 21 times in the last 22 seasons.

Series Histories
The Bears hold a 57-13 series edge with Bradley, though the Braves have won five of the last seven meetings.
Missouri State has squared off with Illinois State more than any other school, and holds a 54-53 series lead in 107 all-time meetings.
MSU is 70-2 all-time against Indiana State, the two losses coming in 1994 and 2019, with a 54-match win streak for the Bears in between.

First Meetings This Season
Missouri State lost 3-1 at Bradley on Oct. 2. The Bears dropped a pair of two-point sets to the Braves, and got 21 kills from Amelia Flynn. Manuela Ibarguen had 13 kills and 14 digs, and Maddy Bushnell hit .450 with 11 kills.
The Bears took down Illinois State in five sets on Oct. 1 in Normal. Missouri State turned the match with a 6-1 run in the fifth set to lead 10-6, and Brooklyn Cink had two kills and a block after the Redbirds closed to 11-10. Ibarguen had 17 kills and Flynn added 14.
