IOWA CITY, Iowa – Tiffani Nash and Alyson Piskulic highlighted the Missouri State's women's tennis team's ITA showing, both picking up singles wins here at the Midwest Regional in Iowa City on Friday.
In the main draw, Nash defeated University of Missouri's Gabriela Martinez Asensi, 6-3, 6-0, in the first round of the tournament. The sophomore then dropped her second of the day to Maria Linares of Kansas State University, 6-3, 6-0.
Piskulic also earned a victory on Friday morning in the qualifiers bracket. The junior defeated Oral Roberts' Luna Morini in three sets, 6-3 1-6, 7-6 (10-7), before falling in the second round to Natsumi Kurahashi from Wichita State.
"I'm happy with our performance at the ITA Regional tournament," said head coach Randall Knox. "I'm extremely proud and looking forward to the spring to continue to build a culture of hard work, no excuses, and team first mentality."
Also representing Missouri State at the regional was freshman Tiera Jarmond, competing in both singles and doubles play for the Bears. Jarmond suffered a defeat at the hands of Bradley University's Bozana Lojpur before falling in the consolation bracket as well.
Jarmond and Piskulic also competed as a doubles team against a pair from SIU Edwardsville, falling 6-3.
The ITA Regional Championship concludes the Bears' fall schedule, sending them into the off-season to prepare for the upcoming spring season.
