Brooklyn Cink was honored Tuesday as the Missouri Valley Conference Performer of the Week. The league is recognizing one athlete each week across all participating sports during its limited schedule this fall.
Cink posted career highs of 20 kills and three aces while hitting .294 to lead Missouri State to a season-opening 3-0 victory Sunday at Little Rock. The Manhattan, Kan., native added a pair of block assists for 24 total points and was 13-for-13 on serve receive with six digs.
The sophomore outside hitter had at least six kills and seven total points in each set, beginning with a 10-point first set thanks to seven kills, two aces and two block assists. She had seven more kills in the second set, including the clincher for a 27-25 win, and six in the third period.
Cink leads all NCAA players this fall in kills per set and points per set.
The volleyball Bears are off until a home contest with Central Arkansas at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Fans will be allowed at 35 percent of Hammons Student Center capacity, with more details to come in the week preceding the match.
