FORT WORTH, Texas – Missouri State's beach volleyball team opened a challenging weekend in Texas Friday, losing 3-2 to UAB and 5-0 to No. 17 Arizona at the Fight in the Fort hosted by TCU.

MSU's Rachel Tam and Grace Cook had a solid day as the No. 3 pair, beating UAB in straight sets and taking Arizona's duo the distance before a 15-8 loss in third frame.

Pamela Jaime and Kylee Davis picked up the Bears' other victory on the day, doing so in the fourth flight versus UAB.

Against Arizona, a team the Bears (3-7) were seeing for a third time already this year, MSU forced a pair of three-set contests, including Kendra Sater and Chloe Tome narrowly losing 20-18 in their No. 2 match.

Missouri State takes on two more ranked opponents tomorrow, facing No. 1 LSU at 9 a.m. and 16th-ranked TCU at 11 a.m.
