UCA Uses Three-Straight Singles Wins to Down Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Central Arkansas engineered three-straight singles victories to pull away late and down Missouri State's tennis team, 5-2, Friday evening at Cooper Tennis Complex.

UCA collected the doubles point after serving the Bears a pair of 6-4 decisions in the Nos. 1 and 2 positions.

The battle of the Bears continued as both squads traded early singles points, seeing No. 5 Claire Martin cruise to a 6-1, 6-0 result before UCA jumped in front with a fourth-flight victory. No. 3 Ellie Burger tied it again for the home club at two-all after a three set 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win, marking her fifth of the spring season.

MSU dropped the final three singles points to the visiting Bears in the Nos. 2, 1, and 6 spots. All three advanced to third sets, but the home club struggled to capitalize on key points.

The Bears look to rebound at home against Omaha on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m.
