
Bears Home for Pair of Non-Conference Games

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team prepares for a pair of home matches this weekend at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium, squaring off in non-conference tilts with Tulsa (Sept. 13) and Murray State (Sept. 15).

Missouri State Quick Kicks:
- An SIUE foul in the box during the 92nd minute set up a Bears' penalty kick opportunity, where forward Ashley Coonfield ripped one past the Cougars and claimed the 1-0 overtime win.
- Goalkeeper Kaitlin Maxwell collected seven saves and led the Bears' defense to a 0-0 double overtime deadlock against an undefeated Kansas City team in their 2019 home opener.
- MSU ties for third amongst Valley schools with seven goals scored, combining for five against road opponents Central Arkansas and Little Rock.
- Coonfield has been an offensive weapon for the Bears, leading the team in goals (2) and points (5).
- The Bears are producing a balanced offensive effort, seeing six different players find the net in 2019.

Scouting Tulsa:
- Tulsa's 7-0 season opening win over Texas Southern was the highest scoring contest since the Golden Hurricanes' produced the same mark against Nicholls State in 2012.
- Aubrey Lechilder has tallied a team-best three goals and earned American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 2.
- The Golden Hurricanes rank third in the AAC standings, producing a 4-1 record.
Scouting Murray State:
- Murray State has endured a tough non-conference slate, gaining impressive victories against Indiana and Samford.
- Miyah Watford leads the Racers with 13 points on a team-high six goals and an assist. The Racers combined for six goals in the past three games, including a four-goal scoring frenzy in a 5-4 loss to Ole Miss.
- The Racers close out their non-conference schedule in a pair of road contests against Arkansas State and MSU.

Tulsa:
- Tulsa maintains the 13-6-2 series advantage against the Bears heading into Friday's contest.
- Last season, the Bears took Tulsa to overtime, where Jordan Eickelman provided a spectacular finish, firing off the game-winner to lift MSU to a 3-2 road win.
Murray State:
- MSU holds a 2-1 series edge against the Racers, with both squads meeting three times through 2003-2007.
- The Bears combined for 10 goals in the past two meetings, most recently claiming a 4-0 shutout in 2007.
