ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior wide receiver
Tyler Currie is among the elite players listed on the Missouri Valley Football Conference Preseason Offensive Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Currie, a native of Cordova, Tenn., earned All-MVFC honorable mention honors as a junior after starting 9-of-11 games for the Bears in 2018. He shared the team lead with 35 receptions and led MSU with 548 yards and five receiving touchdowns. He also ranked fifth in the MVFC and 79th nationally in yards per reception (15.66) while his five receiving touchdowns ranked 90th nationally and eighth in Valley.
He also had multiple receptions in seven games and posted catches in 10-of-11 contests overall. He also led the Bears with 555 all-purpose yards for the season.
The Valley's Preseason Offensive Team includes first-team receivers Dakarai Allen (South Dakota), Dante Hendrix (Indiana State) and Cade Johnson (South Dakota State), in addition to second-team honorees Currie, John Brunner (Western Illinois) and Andrew Edgar (Illinois State).
The MVFC will announce its Preseason Defensive Team on Wednesday. The league preseason poll, which had defending national champion North Dakota State listed atop the Valley's 10 programs, was released Monday.
