Beach Bears Unable to Finish Play Saturday Due to Weather

April 06, 2019

MONROE, La. – Weather cut short Missouri State's final day at the Warhawk Challenge Saturday, halting two separate matches in progress and leaving MSU unable to finish either contest against Houston Baptist or Louisiana Monroe.

Missouri State was poised to extend its six-match winning streak in the opener against Houston Baptist before a strange set of circumstances unfolded. The teams split the fourth and fifth flights, and the top three matches were underway when thunderstorms neared the area.

The Bears led 1-0, 14-7 in the second flight, 1-0, 16-17 in the No. 3 spot, and trailed 0-1, 20-21 in the No. 1 pair when the weather delay began. At that time, Houston Baptist elected to depart the tournament, and the match result remains under review.

MSU resumed play shortly thereafter with its regularly scheduled second match of the day against Louisiana Monroe, but weather again caused a stoppage, and the teams agreed to cancel the contest.

Missouri State closes the regular season April 12 and 13 at the Palmetto Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
