MONROE, La. – Missouri State extended its school-record beach volleyball winning streak to six matches Friday afternoon with a 3-2 victory against New Orleans at the ULM Warhawk Challenge.
The Bears (11-8) took a 2-1 lead into the final two matches after the pairs of
Sarah Demmer and
Sam Brinkmann at No. 4 and
Abby Jackson and
Ivy Reynolds in the fifth flight picked up straight-set victories, while the Privateers got on the board with a 2-0 win in the No. 3 match.
The top two matches both went the distance, with New Orleans (10-6) winning 15-11 in the third set of the No. 1 match after the teams split a pair of 21-19 contests to even the overall score at 2-2.
Meanwhile, MSU's No. 2 pair of
Chloee McDaniel and
Mikaela Mosquera rallied after dropping the first set, tying the score with a marathon 25-23 victory in the second frame, and claiming a 15-13 win in the third to secure the match victory mere minutes after UNO tied the score.
The Bears play two matches Saturday, taking on Houston Baptist at 1 p.m. and host Louisiana Monroe at 4 p.m.
