Cavaiani Captures MVC Individual Title, Bears Finish Sixth

CHESTERTON, Ind. – Abby Cavaiani paced the Missouri State women's golf team and the rest of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championship field to take the individual title. The Bears as a team finished sixth with a 59-over par 923.

Cavaiani moved up two places during the final day, carding 1-over par 73 to conclude play with a 4-over par 220 overall. For just the fourth time in league history, golfers were tied after the completion of 54 holes.  Cavaiani edged out Northern Iowa's Sydney Eaton on the second playoff hole to earn the championship.

Cavaiani earned Newcomer of the Year credits and became the first MVC golfer since 2011 to earn medalist honors as a first-year MVC player.  Cavaiani was also a member of the league's 10-golfer All-Conference Team.

Ashley Childers came through next for the Bears, finishing tied for 29th after a 13-over par final day, finishing 20-over par.

Rachel Johnson, Allison Bray and Bridget Schulte all finished tied for 35th with a 23-over par total score.
