SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – With the start of the 2019 college baseball season less than two weeks away, Missouri State will honor its 2018 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championship squad Wednesday (Feb. 6) evening during halftime of MSU's 7 p.m. men's basketball game against Southern Illinois at JQH Arena.
Missouri State is coming off the winningest four-year period in program history after claiming 170 victories since the start of the 2015 season. The Bears finished with a 40-17 overall record after capturing their second-consecutive Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title and securing their third NCAA Regional berth in four seasons last spring.
Head coach
Keith Guttin was named MVC Coach of the Year for the second-straight season and the seventh time overall, while
Dylan Coleman,
Drew Millas,
John Privitera and
Connor Sechler picked up first-team All-MVC honors to help the Bears sweep the league's regular-season and postseason tournament titles for the second time in four years.
Ranked as high as No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) in this year's preseason polls, MSU returns 19 letterwinners from last year's club, including three players who earned 2018 All-America recognition in Millas, Sechler and
Ty Buckner. The Bears open their 2019 campaign Feb. 15, when they meet Nevada in the opening game of the Texas State Tournament in San Marcos, Texas.
Season tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now through the Missouri State Athletics box office and include packages for lower-level reserved chairback seats for $100 (general public), $50 for Missouri State faculty and staff and $20 for students. Eight-game mini-packages will also be offered for $32 per ticket. The Bears will also offer a '6-Pack Special' again this spring. Purchase six or more season tickets and receive a 25-percent discount, making the ticket price just $75 per season ticket.
Bears' single-game tickets are now on sale through the MSU box office as well. Seats are priced at $6 for the general public, $3 for Missouri State faculty and staff, $2 for students and special rates are offered for groups of 20 or more. All children ages 12 and under not accompanied by a season-ticket holder will require a $2 ticket for admission.
