NORMAN, Okla. – All three singles participants for the Missouri State women's tennis team recorded victories in Thursday's first round of the ITA Central Regional.

Anna Alons started the Bears' successful day, cruising to a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 decision against North Dakota. In her next match, Alons took her Oral Roberts opponent to extra points in the third set, but ultimately fell in a tight 7-6, 5-7, 9-11 battle.

Newcomer
Taylor Shaw opened the regional with a comeback win, beating South Dakota 2-6, 6-1, 10-6. Shaw added another extra point affair to her resume, but ultimately dropped the 6-3, 1-6, 14-12 match.

Ellie Burger rebounded for a 7-5, 6-1 win in her second match after falling to Creighton in the qualifying round.

"We played high quality tennis that put us in position to win matches," said head coach
Mallory Weber. "I'm excited for us to continue that tomorrow."

The ITA Central Regional resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m.
