Tennis Bears Record Wins at Eastern Illinois Invite

CHARLESTON, ILL. – The Missouri State women's tennis team concluded Saturday's final rounds of the Eastern Illinois Invitational by prevailing in three brackets at the EIU Fieldhouse.

After securing a spot in the flight A doubles match on Friday, Alye Darter and Ellie Burger cruised to a 6-2 decision over EMU for the title.

Claire Martin and Taylor Shaw also impressed in the flight A doubles circuit, outlasting IUPUI in a tight 7-6 (5) match.

The Bears continued their success in singles action, claiming B and C flight victories. Claire Martin handed the home opponent an 8-3 defeat while Alyson Piskulic broke the tie for an 8-7(9) win over EMU.

Mara Presot built on her strong day one showing, earning a pair of singles decisions over EIU (8-5) and EMU (8-6) to punctuate her flight C singles run.

The Bears resume competition at the ITA Regional Championships in Norman, Okla. starting Thursday, Oct. 17.
