CONWAY, Ark. – The Missouri State women's tennis team recorded a successful first outing at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) Fall Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21.   
 
Alye Darter opened singles competition by advancing to the first flight semifinals after downing Southeast Missouri State's Kseniya Zonova 6-3, 7-6.
 
Newcomer Maria Presot beat out her SEMO opponent in a three-set 6-4, 7-5, 10-5 victory to progress in the bracket. Presot would fall in the next matchup 6-4, 6-1.
 
Alexia Meyer and Brooke Smith picked up wins in Flight G with scores of 6-1, 2-6, 10-3 and 7-6, 6-2, respectively.
 
Fati Khamissi closed out the afternoon with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Oral Robert's Ceijana Cornelius.
 
"This was a great start to the year, getting to play both singles and doubles," said head coach Mallory Weber. "Every player saw some success and it was great to get out and see where we can keep improving."
 
Due to the possibility of inclement weather, Missouri State completed a pair of doubles matches Thursday night. Phoebe Boeschen and Meyer picked up back-to-back wins in Flight C, sweeping Southeastern Louisiana's Katya Cornejo and Himani Mor 6-0 before defeating Oral Roberts' Andrea Vasiljevic and Valentina Gisbert 6-1 to advance to the finals.
 
Projected rain in the forecast has altered the schedule for the remaining of the tournament. Saturday's matches have been canceled and the final round of flights will remain unfinished.
