Women's Golf 5th in Payne Stewart Memorial

The Missouri State women's golf team kicked off their home tournament at Twin Oaks Country Club with a 36-hole day. The Bears went 308-295--603 through two rounds and are tied with Oral Roberts for fifth place in the 15-team field.
Abby Cavaiani proved herself a force to be reckoned with for the Bears firing 74-71--145 on the day. The freshman is tied for sixth and the only Missouri State golfer to crack the top 20 on day one. Cavaiani's three-over par places her just five strokes behind the leader and within striking distance of the lead.
Ashley Childers carded 83-71--154 to tie for 35th. One stroke behind with 155, Rachel Johnson and Allison Bray tied for 41st shooting 76-79 and 77-78 respectively. Rounding out the team lineup, Niamh Lendrum tied for 44th with 81-75--156.
Competing as individuals Ryan Pate shot 78-82--160, Faith Belmear and Bridget Schulte each carded 162 with 87-75 and 79-83 respectively. Sophia Sadaro shot 81-83--164 to tie for 77th.
In the team standings, Memphis and UTEP are tied for first with 579 apiece. Murray State is third with 592, followed by Wichita State (599) in fourth, Oral Roberts and the Bears round out the top five. Arkansas State (607) is seventh followed by Southern Illinois (618), Oklahoma City U. (619), Little Rock (619), Omaha (628), UMKC (634), Drury (650), Creighton (650), and William Woods (677).
Round three will tee off at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
