Millas Adds NCBWA All-America Honor to 2018 Resume

June 13, 2018

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State sophomore Drew Millas became the latest Bear to add his name to a distinguished list of MSU All-Americans Wednesday, when the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) tabbed the designated hitter for second-team honors.

Millas becomes the 41st Bear to garner All-America recognition and the sixth different MSU standout to receive an All-America citation from the NCBWA over the last four seasons.

Millas, who also earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region honors Wednesday, turned in a breakthrough sophomore campaign, hitting a career-best .321 to lead Missouri State. The Swansea, Ill., native also paced the club with 68 total hits and 61 RBIs, while recording 18 multi-hit games and 18 multi-RBI efforts as well. The first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree logged three separate four-hit games to go along with a career-high seven home runs this season and was a three-time MVC Player of the Week honoree. Millas was also named to the Valley's Scholar-Athlete team.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.

MSU concluded the 2018 season with a 40-17 overall mark and a third MVC regular-season title and NCAA Regional appearance in the last four seasons.
