FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Missouri State track and field team went south for the next phase of the 2018 outdoor season, here on Friday. Day one of the John McDonnell Invitational saw multiple personal records and an event title.

Sidne' Williamson set a wind aided career best 6.10-meter long jump (+7.6), earning sixth place in the event. Williamson's attempt sits as the best long jump mark of the season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Capturing the top two spots in the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Grace Breiten and
Jordyn Capra both marked personal records in the event. Breiten set the pace with a 10:55.74 time, while Capra ran an 11:22.56 race.

MSU's 4x100m relay; teamed by
Asha Cave,
Marissa Kurtimah,
Divina Henry and
Taryn Smiley earned a season best time of 46.05, to finish in second place. Â Â
Missouri State will continue with day two of the John McDonnell Invitational tomorrow at 12:30 p.m., with the hammer throw.
