SB Signing Day

Softball Bears Add Spring Signee Greenlee

April 11, 2018

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State softball head coach Holly Hesse announced Wednesday the receipt of a National Letter of Intent from pitcher Bailey Greenlee, a product of Snohomish (Wash.) High School.

Greenlee is also the sister of current Bear Morgan Greenlee, a junior catcher for MSU.

Greenlee has been part of three 20-win seasons in her first three high school seasons, earning a starting role with coach Lou Kennedy's Panthers since her freshman campaign. She has already been nominated for the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Washington this spring.

Last season, Greenlee helped Snohomish to a 24-4 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in Wesco conference play after compiling a 1.07 ERA and striking out 184 batters in 98 innings of work. She also threw two no-hitters her junior year and batted .441 and smacked three home runs as an all-state and all-conference standout.

The Panthers were 22-6 and 22-3 her freshman and sophomore seasons, respectively. She led the club with a .500 batting average in 2016 and was a second-team all-area selection as a freshman in 2015 for a conference championships squad.

Greenlee joins five fellow high school seniors who committed to Missouri State during the November signing period: Alex Boze (C, Belleville, Ill., Belleville East Township High), Hope Hamilton (1B/OF, Crandall, Texas, Crandall High), Abi LaValley (SS, Ada, Okla., Latta High), Payton Minnis (2B, Blue Springs, Mo., Blue Springs High), and Rachel Weber (OF/3B, Lincoln, Neb., Lincoln East High).

The Bears (23-14) open a six-game home stand this evening at 5 p.m. when they take on Oklahoma State at Killian Stadium. Tonight's game is the club's annual Orange Game to celebrate senior Allie Alvstad's battle, and victory, against acute myeloid leukemia. All fans wearing orange to tonight's game are admitted free.

To celebrate 50 years of Missouri State softball, the Bears are also hosting a Legacy Weekend celebration that kicks off with an alumni event Friday evening and continues with a recognition between games of Saturday's Noon doubleheader against Bradley.
