SPRINGFIELD– The Missouri State women's tennis team will head to Conway, Ark., to take on McNeese State on Friday, March 20. First serve is set for 9 a.m. at the UCA Tennis Courts.
Missouri State (5-6) had some time off since taking on then No. 40 Kansas State and South Dakota State over the Bears' spring break. The Bears collected a 6-1 victory over the visiting Jackrabbits on March 16, but fell 7-0 to the Wildcats in Manhattan on March 18.
The Bears are led by junior
Fati Khamissi with an 8-3 record at No. 4 singles, while fellow junior
Phoebe Boeschen has put together a 7-4 record at in No. 3 singles contests. At No. 2 doubles, Boeschen and senior
Anelisse Torrico Moreno have tallied an 8-2 spring record. Sophomore
Alye Darter and freshman
Ellie Burger are currently 7-2 at No. 1 doubles for MSU.
McNeese State (10-2) briefly jumps out of Southland Conference play to take on the Bears in the neutral site contest. The Cowgirls are already 6-1 against SoCon opponents and will return to league play against UCA on Saturday. McNeese State sophomore Phonexay Chitdara collected Southland Conference Player of the Week honors after she extended her No. 6 singles record to 11-0..
McNeese State holds a 1-0 series advantage over Missouri State, collecting a 7-0 victory in 2016 which was also played in Conway, Ark.
After taking on McNeese State, the Bears open Missouri Valley Conference action against Bradley on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. in Peoria, Ill.
