Pettersen Paces Bears In Round One Of Mountain View Collegiate

The Missouri State women's golf team was back in action today at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona. The Bears are paced by senior Stine Pettersen who carded 73 in the opening round sits in 14th after shooting four birdies on the day. The senior shot three on the front nine to finish only one-over par going into round two tomorrow. Rachel Johnson shot 74 for her best opening round of the year. The junior is in 22nd place following a pair of birdies on the front nine to oppose four bogeys on the back half. Ashley Childers also came out swinging with her best start to a tournament this year firing off 75, she currently sits in 30th. Verena Gimmy and Bridget Shulte round out the lineup for the Bears carding 79 and 81 respectively after struggling early in the day.
 
In the team standings, the Bears are tied for 10th with Nebraska in a 15 team field. Illinois leads the pack with an even 288 in round one, ahead of San Jose State with 290 and Kansas (293). Host Missouri is in fourth after day one with 294 and Colorado State rounds out the top five just one stroke behind Mizzou.
 
Round two commences at 8 a.m. Saturday morning off tees one and 10 with round three coming on Sunday.
