SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State's beach volleyball team put on an impressive display Thursday afternoon in its first ever match at the Betty & Bobby Allison Sand Volleyball Courts, claiming a 5-0 victory and winning all 10 sets against visiting Ottawa University.

The Bears (7-6) opened with a victory in the No. 5 match behind Lynsey Wright's 15 kills and five aces, as she teamed with Ivy Reynolds to hold Ottawa to a combined 20 points in two sets. 

MSU's fourth pair of Caroline Finnell and Sarah Demmer closed their second set on a 4-0 run for the victory after a 17-all tie, and Aubrey Cheffey and Julia Hanson scored twice after a 19-19 tie in the second set shortly thereafter to clinch the match for the Bears.

Missouri State's No. 1 pair of Taylor Fricano and Veronica Snelling combined for 13 aces in their straight-set victory over Ottawa's (0-5) top duo, and Mikaela Mosquera and Sam Brinkmann finished off the sweep in the third flight, with Mosquera recording 11 kills and Brinkmann adding five aces.

The Bears are idle until the Maroon and White Scrimmage on April 6 in Springfield, and conclude the season with a four-match trip to South Carolina on April 13-14.
