IRVINE, Calif. -- Missouri State's beach volleyball team continued its busy run through southern California Friday, dropping a heartbreaker to Cal State Bakersfield, 3-2, and rebounding for a 4-1 victory against Irvine Valley College on IVC's home courts.
Caroline Finnell and
Sarah Demmer won both of their matches in straight sets at the No. 4 spot, improving their record to 6-2 on the season.Â
Taylor Fricano and
Veronica Snelling earned MSU's first win of the year in the top flight with a three-set victory against Cal State Bakersfield (4-3), though the Roadrunners took the other two three-setters in the match to grab the narrow win.
Against Irvine Valley (1-5), the Bears went the distance for wins in the Nos. 2 and 3 flights, while
Lynsey Wright and
Ivy Reynolds earned their sixth win of the year in the fifth spot.
The Bears (5-4) wrap up their 11-match trip with three duals on Saturday, facing second-ranked UCLA, No. 16 Loyola Marymount, and Colorado Mesa at LMU.
