MSU Tennis to Face Quincy, Western Illinois in Road Contests

SPRINGFIELD– The Missouri State women's tennis team heads out on the road this weekend to face Quincy University and Western Illinois University.

First, the Bears will take on the Quincy Hawks on Friday (March 2) at 4:30 p.m. in Quincy, Ill. MSU will then wrap up the weekend against Western Illinois on Saturday (March 3) at 12 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.

After a week off from competition, the Bears (3-3) look to kick off the month of March strong. Junior Phoebe Boeschen leads the Bears with four wins this spring at the No. 3 singles position, while amassing a 4-2 record at No. 2 doubles with doubles partner senior Anelisse Torrico Moreno.

Quincy, a member of the Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference, heads into Friday's match with a 1-1 record. The Hawks fell, 7-0, to Saint Louis University on Feb. 10, but was able to bounce back and defeat league opponent McKendree, 8-1, the next day.

Western Illinois (3-5) will play at SIUE on Friday, prior to hosting MSU on Saturday outdoors. The Leathernecks have already faced three Missouri Valley Conference schools, falling to Bradley (4-3), Illinois State (4-1) and Drake (5-2).
