Tennis Bears Release 2019 Schedule

December 07, 2018

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's tennis head coach Mallory Weber announced the spring schedule for the 2019 season.

This fall, the Bears played in several tournaments including two on their home court at Cooper Tennis Complex. Fati Khamissi and Clara Gandara-Gonzalez highlighted the MVC Individual Championships in October, each collecting an individual title.

Missouri State will resume its 2018-19 season at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville on Sunday, Jan. 27. This is the second straight year the Bears have opened their spring schedule against the Cougars, last year the Bears swept 7-0.

February includes five consecutive home matches at Cooper Tennis Complex, where the Bears will host Western Illinois (Feb. 8), Creighton (Feb. 9), Southeast Missouri State (Feb. 15), and Omaha (Feb. 17).

During the latter half of February, Weber's squad will compete in a trio of matches in a three-day span, including in-state rivals UMKC (Feb. 22) and Missouri (Feb. 23) before ending the month at the University of Central Arkansas (Feb. 24).

The Bears will remain of the road to open March, playing nonconference opponents Alabama A&M (Mar. 1), Murray State (Mar. 2), and Tennessee State (Mar. 3).

Missouri State's lone home match in March is against Louisiana Tech on Mar. 6. The Bears previously played Louisiana Tech in the UCA Fall Invitational.

Rounding out March, the Bears head to Texas to battle against Texas State (Mar. 10) and University of Texas – San Antonio (Mar. 12).

After a short hiatus, Missouri State will open league play with back-to-back matches against UNI (Apr. 6) and Drake (Apr. 7).

The Bears will conclude their nonconference schedule at Oral Roberts (Apr. 10).

Missouri State will host Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opponents Illinois State (Apr. 13) and Bradley (Apr. 14) on its home court, before trekking to Valparaiso (Apr. 20) to cap its regular season slate.

The MVC tournament, hosted by UNI, will take place April 26-29 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Last year, the Bears beat UNI, 4-2, to claim the program's first MVC tennis championship since 2002. The Bears earned an NCAA berth, where they faced Ole Miss.
