LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Missouri State's
Emily Butters became the fifth player in school history to earn multiple all-region honors Tuesday, as she landed on the American Volleyball Coaches Association's all-Midwest Region First Team for the second straight season.
A senior libero, Butters led the Bears with 5.08 digs per set in 2018, finishing the season with 599 total digs, the fifth-highest figure in school history, while ranking fourth in single-season average. Butters owns four of the top eight season dig totals at Missouri State, and had at least 10 digs in 31 of 32 matches as a senior.
The Richmond, Texas, native owns nearly every digs record at Missouri State, with her 2,482 career digs placing her third in MVC and 16th in NCAA history. She also owns the season mark of 737 total digs and 5.80 per set from her All-American junior campaign, averaged an MSU-record 4.84 per set for her career, and has MSU highs for career matches with 10 digs (127), 20 digs (52), and 30 digs (7). She also owns five of the top 15 single-match dig totals at Missouri State.
Additionally, Butters played in every set of her career, ranking fourth MSU history with 513 total, and seventh in NCAA history for consecutive sets.
The Midwest Region includes 40 schools from the Missouri Valley, Atlantic 10, Big 12, Big Sky, Mid-American, Ohio Valley, and Western Athletic conferences, as well as The Summit League.
