Hiebert Earns United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Accolades

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri State defender Kyle Hiebert grabs 2018 United Soccer Coaches (USCA) NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America third team honors, as announced by the association on Tuesday (Dec. 11).
 
Hiebert is the first Bear to earn United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American honors since James Fawke in 2014 and is the first to earn USCA Scholar All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American in the same season since 2011.

Hiebert, led the Bears to another impressive defensive season. The anchor of the Bears strong defensive line started in all 17 matches for Missouri State, playing in all but 45 of the available minutes. The La Salle, Manitoba, Canada native has been key in the Bears' defense, recording a .70 goals-against-average, which is the 16th lowest GAA in the nation. The team captain also added an assist and 12 shot attempts. The junior has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA in accounting.

Hiebert has garnered five other academic honors this season; Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, MVC Scholar-Athlete first team, CoSIDA Academic All-District and CoSIDA Academic All-American first team, as well as earning USCA Scholar All-North/Central Region first team. He also earned All-MVC and USCA All-West Region second team honors for his work on the field this season.
