Missouri State women's golf coach
Kevin Kane has announced the addition of a pair of junior standouts to his team for the 2019-20 season. Kane has received signed commitments from Taylor Towers of Owasso, Okla. and Johanna Wollenhaupt of Hamburg, Germany.
Towers was named Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year just last week and captured the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Championship this past summer. She is ranked third in the senior class in Oklahoma by
National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Towers won the state Class 3A title as a sophomore, while finishing second as a freshman and third as a junior. She qualified for the Junior PGA National Championship in St. Louis a year ago.
Wollenhaupt has placed runner-up at the Faldo Series Junior Championship in Berlin the last two years and has been a member of the German team that finished second at the European Championships this past season and third in 2017. She also placed in the top 20 at the German Championship in 2016 and 2017.
"These two are going to be a strong addition to our program, people you would expect to make an impact from the start," Kane said. "They've got a good track record and have played extensive competition, international competition in Johanna's case, so that should serve them well. Plus, they're good students and great people. I'm excited for them to be Bears next year."
The Bears are the two-time defending champions in the Missouri Valley Conference and just completed their fall season season with a win at the MVC Preview in October and second place at the Little Rock Classic two weeks ago.
