November 15, 2018

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's tennis team received two National Letters of Intent in the opening days of the signing period. Taylor Shaw and Alyson Piskulic are slated to join Head Coach Mallory Weber's 2019-20 squad.

Taylor Shaw • Little Rock, Ark. • Homeschool
The No. 1 recruit of 2019 out of Arkansas, Shaw was selected for the 2018 Southern Cup and won as a walk-on at the Independence Bout Southern Level 2. An all-state and all-conference selection, Shaw, who attended Little Rock Christian Academy for three years, led the Warriors to three conference championships. In her junior campaign, Shaw finished runner-up at state.

Weber on Shaw:
"Taylor is one of those players that fights to find ways to win. She's got an aggressive game and never gives up on points. She has a huge upside that's suited well for college tennis."

Alyson Piskulic • Melville, Mo. • Melville High
A four year starter who logged a 67-6 record in singles, Piskulic earned a host of awards that include St. Louis Suburban Conference Green Pool Player of the Year, Suburban West Conference Player of the Year, two-time first team singles, two-time second team singles, and four All-Metro honors. In her senior season, Piskulic held a 19-1 singles record her senior season and helped lead the Panthers to team and singles district championship titles, as well as a third-place state finish. Over her four years at Melville High, the Panthers were three-time team district champions. In doubles, Piskulic went 45-11 over three years and earned first-team doubles twice.

Weber on Piskulic:
"Alyson is one of the fiercest competitors I've seen on court. Her heart and aggressive game style are going to be fun to watch over the next four years."
