MVC Championship Central | Individual Draws | Order of Play
 
SPRINGFIELD – Four singles and two doubles victories highlighted the second day of the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships at Cooper Tennis Complex on Saturday.
 
Missouri State saw players advance in four consecutive flights, beginning with Anna Alons' 6-2, 6-2 decision over Drake's Daria Walczak in No. 2 singles.  
 
Fati Khamissi continued her success on the court from the previous day, narrowly defeating Drake's Liza Petushkova 6-1, 7-5 in the third flight.
 
Ellie Burger would battle back after dropping the first set to down Drake's Sophia Haleas 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 to continue on in the No. 4 position.
 
Clara Gandara Gonzalez would complete the win streak, breaking the tie breaker to slip past her opponent 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in the fifth flight.
 
After winning their respective matches, all four Missouri State players will compete for first place in their flight on Sunday.
 
"I'm very happy with our performances today," said head coach Mallory Weber. "For us to be in the finals in four out of six singles flights and two out of three doubles flights is exactly where we want to be heading into the final day."
 
The Bears found similar success in doubles play with Burger and Alons gaining the 6-4 decision to advance to the final round of flight one.
 
Alye Darter and Mara Presot capped off the action with a dominating 6-1 advantage in No. 3 doubles, and will battle for first place on Sunday.
 
Sunday's final round matches at Cooper Tennis Complex will begin at 9 a.m.
