Chesterton, IN. --- The Missouri State women's golf team battled cold and wind in the first day of the MVC Fall Preview hosted by Valparaiso University. Through the first round the Bears were four strokes back from first but round two saw a turn for the better as Missouri State surged past Bradley in the standings. Shooting 324-318--642, the Bears have a one stroke lead over the Braves going into the third round.

Abby Cavaiani took the lead in round two shooting double rounds of 76. With three birdies in each round, Cavaiani holds onto a two stroke lead. Tied for second is Missouri State's
Rachel Johnson and Bradley's Taylor Ledwein. Johnson fired off 79-75--154 moving up from fifth to second. Freshman
Faith Belmear also broke into the top 20 with 85-81--166 as part of a six-way tie for 15th.
Allison Bray shot 85-86--171 and
Ashley Childers carded 84-90--174.

Missouri State takes their lead into round three, followed by Bradley (643), Illinois State (647), Southern Illinois (659), Northern Iowa (662), Drake (667), Indiana State (671), Loyola (673), and Valparaiso rounds out the 9 team field with 698.
The final round will begin at 7:30 am CT off holes one and 10 at Sand Creek Country Club.
