St. LOUIS -- Missouri State freshman setter Chloe Rear was selected the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week in volleyball on Monday, the second such distinction for her this season and third for the Bears in the last four weeks.

Rear handed out assists at an elite level last week, averaging 13.83 per set while guiding the Bears to a .231 hitting percentage. The Strafford, Mo., native had 51 assists on Friday against Southern Illinois, the most for a Bear in a three-set match in the 25-point scoring era (since 2008). She added 10 digs against SIU for the double-double, and MSU hit .355 in the match. Monday at Loyola, the rookie had 32 assists, five digs and a block.

The Bears are on the road this weekend with matches at Indiana State on Friday and Evansville on Saturday.
