PEORIA, Ill. -- Led by a combined 46 kills from its three senior hitters and a season-high .394 attack efficiency, the Missouri State volleyball team earned a 3-1 (25-11, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22) victory at Bradley Saturday evening inside Renaissance Coliseum.
The Bears (10-5, 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference) racked up 65 kills against 13 errors in their 18th consecutive regular season MVC win, with
Lynsey Wright's 20 kills on .469 hitting leading all players.Â
Wright's fourth career match with at least 20 kills was backed up by 19 kills on .364 hitting from
Lily Johnson, who added 20 digs, while fellow senior
Lauren Boone hit .438 with seven kills and no errors. Sophomore
Daniele Messa handed out a career-high 55 assists, and
Emily Butters had 23 digs.
Missouri State did not trail in either of the first two sets, combining to hit .448 in the two frames thanks in large part to Wright recording kills on 10 of her first 11 swings and a 5-0 run midway through the second set that opened up a 16-10 lead for the Bears.
While the MSU offense maintained its efficiency with 19 kills in the third set, it was Bradley that hit .421 with only one error while not trailing in the period.
The Braves (7-9, 0-2) jumped ahead 6-1 in the fourth set and led by as much as 15-9 before the Bears rallied for an 18-18 tie on a Wright kill. BU scored the next two points to lead 20-18 before the Bears rattled off a 4-0 run, taking the lead for good on an
Emelie Orlando kill.
Ashley Ophoven followed with a kill to make it 22-20, and the teams sided out to 24-22 when
Ashley Dudenhoeffer's ace secured the win for the Bears.
Missouri State returns home Monday for a 7 p.m. match against Loyola (1-12, 0-2) at Hammons Student Center.Â
