SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Goals from two Bears lifted the Missouri State women's soccer team past Southeast Missouri State in the squad's 2-0 shutout victory Friday night at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.

Maintaining control of the ball for the majority of the first half, Missouri State out-shot the Redhawks 4-2 in the opening 45 minutes. A long 22 minutes went by before junior
Brooke Prondzinski fired the first shot of the night, but was blocked inside the box. Senior
Brooke Zimmerman immediately attempted a header off the rebounded shot, but the ball was snagged by SEMO goalkeeper Kindra Lierz.

The Redhawks fired off two shots that sailed wide right and high, marking SEMO's two scoring attempts of the half. With five minutes to go in the first half, sophomore
Mayleigh Oder launched her first shot of the season, but it flew into the hands of the SEMO goalkeeper and both teams entered halftime scoreless.

In the 48
th minute, a double-assist effort from Zimmerman and Prondzinski evolved to sophomore
Kayleigh Putnam's first goal of the season. The Council Bluffs, Iowa, native received an expert pass across the box from Prondzinski and scorched a shot from 15-yards out to give the Bears a 1-0 advantage.

Missouri State put the nail in the coffin 16 minutes later when Prondzinski showed off her quick reactive skills, netting her second goal of the season off a rebounded save. The junior's insurance goal capped off scoring for the night and ensured the Bears' 2-0 shutout over the Redhawks.

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper
Kaitlin Maxwell ended the match with four saves and improved to 2-3-0 on the season.
