Men’s Soccer Drops Season Opener

U.S.A.F.A., Colo. – In spite of a close-fought season opener here Friday, the Missouri State men's soccer squad surrendered the game's only goal in a 1-0 loss to Air Force.

The goal by the Falcons came at the 36:42 mark, of the first half when Danny Han made it around senior goal keeper Liam Priestley to net the point. The Bear's defense gave up 20 shots with nine on goal during the game.

Sophomore Kyle Hiebert took the first shot of the season with a header that sailed over the bar three minutes into the match. Six different Bears recorded shots during the game with sophomore Ben Stroud, junior Harry Lewis and senior Jake Buckle aiming on goal.

Despite giving up the deciding goal, Priestley kept the Falcons at bay with eight saves in the match. Five of which came during the second half.  With the clock ticking down the keeper was able to keep Air Force out of the goal with some timely saves.

The Bears put up a fight in the second half with all three shots on goal coming in that period. Freshman Dylan De Jong took the team's final shot with 90 seconds left in the game. His attempt was blocked by an Air Force defender, which quelled the Bear's final attempt to tie the game.
