SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State senior offensive lineman
Riley Shantz has been invited to attend Green Bay Packers mini camp later this week, the Springfield native confirmed Sunday.
Â
Shantz made 24 starts in his Missouri State career, including primary starting duties on the MSU o-line in 2015 and 2016. He was an All-MVFC honorable mention selection in 2015 and was the club's starting center in 10 games this fall.
Â
"I am really excited for the opportunity, and I am going to try to make the most of it," said Shantz. "I am excited to get there and continue playing the game I love after college. I'm going to soak it all in and take advantage of every opportunity. It has been a childhood dream to play in the NFL and this is the start of that opportunity for me."
Â
According to Shantz, he will arrive in Green Bay on Thursday and immediately begin workouts with the Packers.
Â
On Saturday night, teammate
Dylan Cole (LB, Rogersville, Mo.) signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans.
