The Missouri State women's golf team learned Thursday (Apr. 27) it will compete May 8-10 at the Columbus (Ohio) Regional of the NCAA Division I Championship. The Bears will be one of 18 teams teeing it up for three days on the renowned Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club. Six teams and three individuals at the regional will advance to play in the NCAA Championship at Rich Harvest Farms in suburban Chicago, May 19-24.
MSU earned its spot in the field by posting a decisive 20-shot victory last week at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Seventy-two teams spread among four regionals were selected for the field with 18 teams each in three other regionals beside Columbus -- Albuquerque, N.M.; Athens, Ga.; and Lubbock, Texas.
Other teams joining the Bears in Columbus include: Â Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Arkansas, Colorado, Texas A&M, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, San Jose State, Houston, Louisville, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Old Dominion, Delaware and Cleveland State.
